Bestseller

Back in 2010 when Beyond Justice first appeared on Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com, I never dreamed it would hit #1 on multiple lists on both sites. Now, more than two years later, it continues to stand strong on several top 10 bestseller lists on Amazon.com, and has won numerous awards, including The International Book Award. I am humbled by the many kind reviews it’s received, but by far, the greatest satisfaction comes from reading fan mail.

Thrillerfest 2012 will remain in my memory one of the best experiences I’ve had, not only in terms of the people I met, such as Sandra Brown, Lee Child, David Morrell, Steve Berry, Douglas Preston, Catherine Coulter, Ted Dekker, and countless others, but because of the camaraderie we all shared as aviaries of a like plume. Of course, there were the fan boy moments where I found myself in awe of meeting several #1 NY Times bestselling authors who agreed to interviews on my internet radio show DIAGLOGUE: Between the Lines, but some of best memories were spending time with facebook friends whom I met for the first time in person, such as Aaron Patterson, Jeff Ayers, Alan Jacobson, and an whole entourage of their friends as well.

I just returned from Thrillerfest, a convention sponsored by the International Thriller Writers organization in which I got to meet some of the top bestselling authors in the industry.  I also got to talk with aspiring writers as well as colleagues who are traditionally published, independently published, and hybrid published (both indie and traditional, like myself.)  The day after I got home, I dove directly into more writing, and then a boot camp style workout which kicked my booty!  I survived and learned a few things about burritos and workouts.  They don’t go well together!  :)

Today’s news was exciting though.  I learned that Beyond Justice hit #1 bestseller in legal thrillers on Amazon.com today.  It also hit #2 and #3 in a couple of other categories.

Thank you everyone for your support and for making my book a bestseller!

Here it is as #1 in Legal Thrillers

During the time of writing this post, it actually slipped from #2 to #3 in Books>Mystery,Thriller, Suspense>Thrillers>Legal

Yesterday had to have been one of the most exciting days of my life, ranking up there with my wedding, the birth of my children and selling my first book to Howard Books/Simon & Schuster. I’ll admit, I was a bit nervous about how things would go on the first day of DARKROOM’s release, but even before I could start worrying, tons of reviews, blog posts, interviews, and other such things related to DARKROOM started to flood the internet.

Here’s a recap of some of yesterday’s highlights…

As writer, you always hope and pray that your new book will be well-received. Sometimes by the early reader reactions and reviews you get an idea, but opening day can still be as spine-tingling as it is fun. One of the things I look to (for better or for worse) is how my new book is doing in the rankings at various outlets. Thankfully, Amazon.com provides fairly timely statistics in the area of book sales.

I’m pleased to report that DARKROOM hit not one, not two, but three bestseller lists last night.

Great to know that FROM THE ASHES,  by my “evil twin” Ian Alexander is doing so well.  It’s sitting with some good company among the Left Behind books by Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye.  FROM THE ASHES is a short novella set in the YA/Epic Fantasy world of the Sojourner Saga.  It is a prequel to another Amazon #1 Bestseller–ONCE WE WERE KINGS by my pen name Ian Alexander.

I have never been a fan of the Fantasy genre of books, but Ian Alexander has changed my mind. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and would highly recommend it to everyone! Give it a try, even if you don’t usually read fantasy. You might change your mind…I did.

Amazon multi-list bestseller The Lonely Mile

Amazon Bestselling author Allan Leverone’s book THE LONELY MILE has just hit the top 5 on 2 Amazon bestseller lists.  He’s here to blog today about author promotion.

Author Promotion: The Holy Grail

by Allan Leverone

I’m like every other author out there. I want you to read my book, and when you’re done with it, I want you to recommend it to a friend, and then go buy another of my books. That’s my goal. And any author who tells you he doesn’t share that goal is either lying or needs to stop writing books immediately and keep a diary instead.

And while I freely admit to trying virtually all of the above promotional methods, plus some others as well—and will undoubtedly continue to try them in the future—I’m coming to grips with the fact that promotion is hit-or-miss, and the best thing I can do for my career is keep writing the highest-quality fiction I can.

Because book-buying is driven by name-recognition, and sooner or later you will pick up one of my books and you will check it out, and I want you to feel like I wrote it specifically for you. And I want you to remember my name and think of me as the guy who wrote the book that spoke directly to you.

Because that’s really the only thing I can control in this strange writing gig.
